Mister Sam Records are delighted to announce the release of the David Gordon Trio’s first live album ‘In C’, their eighth album.
In C is a radical departure for the trio, being one entire set – unedited – from a concert they played in London in June 2024 and is an immersive listening experience, all tuned to the key of C.
The material combines some old trio favourites such as ‘Greenland’ with new and exciting originals, together with some unlikely picks such as a makeover of Astor Piazzolla’s tango classic, ‘Oblivion’.
As ever the trio’s music has deep roots and five of the originals pay tribute to music of the past – by William Byrd, members of the Bach family, Franz Schubert, Gabriel Fauré, Bill Evans – in ingenious and often hidden ways.
